Russia is the largest country in the world that occupies 1 tenth of all land on earth. It spans across 2 continents; Asia and Europe, and has 11 different time zones. Russia also has coasts on 3 different oceans; Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans. Russia has a variety of many different landscapes such as desert, tundra, tall mountains, and large marshes. Most of Russia is made up of steppes which are treeless plains. Russia has about 100,000 rivers! Some of which are the longest and most powerful rivers in the world. Russia also has many lakes including Lake Ladoga and Lake Onondaga which are Europe's largest lakes. Siberia occupies 3 quarters of Russia. Siberia is made up of many taigas which are pine forests. Lake Baikal in Siberia holds the largest amount of water ever held by any lake.

Others say active volcanoes lie in the water bed, but no one has ever been able to solve the mystery of Brosno Lake.
